After spending several summers camping with all their children, their friends, and their children's friends, my grandparents, Annette and John Mandeno, purchased a section from the local farmer and land owner, Mr Woolley, and began setting their sights on a bach on the hill.

The road out to the Tutukaka Coast was not ideal, so getting the materials out there to build the bach would not have been easy. These photos were taken from Grandpa's slide collection, and show stages of the bach being built.
