I have fond memories of the Kokopu School Christmas Concerts that were held in this hall when I was a kid - I don't know how we ever used to all fit on that tiny stage. After performing our well rehearsed items we had to sit down and sing really loud so that Santa could hear us. After about 6 renditions of 'Back to Bed' - each version getting progressively louder until we were virtually screaming - the reindeer would arrive, landing on the roof. This was simulated by parents throwing gravel (very effective). What a buzz when the big man dressed in red finally walked into the hall and begun to hand out presents. Santa was however, known to be late on the odd occassion. I recently learnt that this was because he was finishing off his glass of whiskey at the house across the road where he was getting ready!
