Rarawa would have to be one of New Zealand's finest white sand beaches
Located in the northern most part of NZ on the small narrow Aupouri Peninsula North of Kaitaia ,the nearest settlement to it is Pukenui and Houhora. This beach has never been crowded and at times you have it all to yourself . Access is down a 4km gravel road from the main road to Cape Reinga It has great fishing from the beach via kite, kayak or just surfcasting . A large Tua tua bed lies in about the centre of the beach but tends to shift about Sometimes the bed is near the top of the high tide line It can be surfed from on the right day and is generally quite safe for swimming but as with all surf beaches a rip can form. A DOC Camp is situated at the south end which has a fast flowing stream into the sea for those that want to stay awhile.
This place is the jewel of the North. Our Family Love it!!
