The Ocean's Gift

Poor Knights Islands - The Ocean's Gift

Author: Richard     Publisher: Sioux

Diving at the Poor Knights Marine Reserve is the pinnacle of diving in Northland - and NZ for that matter! The marine reserve, established in 1982 but not fully protected until 1998, shows the ability of the ocean to heal itself.  It is a place that I can go to experience the beauty and wonder the oceans hold.  You must look beneath the surface to really appreciate the diversity of life.

The oceans are in trouble because of us, humankind.  The Poor Knights shows the recovery that is possible because of us, humankind.  Our health is inescapably tied to the health of our oceans.

As the oceans go, man must surely follow.
