The Story of Totara North

Totara North - The Story of Totara North

Author: Blue Orb     Publisher: Northlander

Totara North is a small settlement on the Whangaroa Harbour which was once a thriving community based around the timber mill, and one of the oldest European settlements in Northland. Lane and Brown's mill operated from the 1870s through until the 1970s and produced over 70 boats for the Pacific trade.

Today Totara North is a quaint village with the main industry centred on the fishing trade in the magnificent local harbour.
